چکیده

Due to the great importance of edible fungi, their rapid life cycle, and possibility production throughout year, cultivation has become a vital resource that many countries depend on in pursuit economic growth food security. The present study aimed devise local nutrient media for primary mycelium nine species fungi belonging Pleurotus eryngii , floridanus ostreatus (white strain) Agaricus heterocystis bispous (brown strain ), strain), Lentinula edodesstrain No. 1, edodes 2, Flammulina velutipe (yellow using culture inoculation reproduction fungi. Different natural materials used this purpose involved potato peels concentration ranging from 5 20 g/ L compared with commercial medium Potato Dextrose Agar at rate 39 g/Land according manufacturer's instructions. also focused effect physical factors such as temperature pH fungal mycelium. results showed prepared g/L 10 concentrations achieved best studied Peptone (PDA). increase was attributed nutrients because it contained effective necessary compounds addition ease absorption consumption be ready agricultural or any other type not previously been PDA.

Comparison of Aspergillus niger spore production on Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) and crushed corncob medium.

Minimizing the number of generations through which a culture passes from the initial culture until its recovery at the fi nal stage of fermentation is a general principle. For fi lamentous fungi, a large number of generations can cause the appearance of low-yield producing variants and mutant strains, which are generally genetically unstable. The use of successive sub-cultures can decrease the ...

Production of Edible Fungi from Potato Protein Liquor (PPL) in Airlift Bioreactor

Potato protein liquor (PPL), a side stream from the potato starch industry, is normally used as fertilizer. However, with more than 100 g/L of sugars, 20 g/L of Kjeldahl nitrogen and Chemical Oxigen Demand (COD) of 300 g/L, it represents serious environmental challenges. The use of PPL for fungal cultivation is a promising solution to convert this waste into valuable products. In this study, PP...

Comparison of inhibitory mold agar to Sabouraud dextrose agar as a primary medium for isolation of fungi.

Clinical specimens cultured on two selective fungal media, inhibitory mold agar (IMA) and Sabouraud dextrose agar (SDA), were compared with respect to recovery of fungi. Of the 840 fungal isolates recovered, 69.3% grew on both IMA and SDA; 24.9% grew only on IMA; and 5.8% grew only on SDA, showing that IMA is superior (P=0.003).

Microwave-assisted extraction of phenolic antioxidants from potato peels.

A response surface method was used to optimize the microwave-assisted extraction parameters such as extraction time (t) (min), solvent (methanol) concentration (S) (v/v) and microwave power level (MP) for extraction of antioxidants from potato peels. Max. total phenolics content of 3.94 mg g⁻¹ dry weight (dw) was obtained at S of 67.33%, t of 15 min and a MP of 14.67%. For ascorbic acid (1.44 m...
